Losing their latest league fixture, Chelsea bounced back in such emphatic fashion as they picked up a prestigious home victory over defending champion, Manchester City.

Keen on redeeming themselves after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers on midweek, The Blues looking motivated and determined as they host Pep Guardiola’s side.

It was a tough battle though from the start for Maurizio Sarri’s men as Man City’s dominant possession play and high pressing football put The Blues under lots of pressure.

However, the home team’s solid defensive play combined with City’s poor finishing early on gave Chelsea an advantage as they were able to snatch a late goal in the first 45 minutes through N’Golo Kante’s calm finishing inside the penalty area.

That late first half goal pumped up The Blues’ confidence as they starting to get more comfortable going forward and even tighter at the back.

Sarri’s side organized defense along with swift direct attacking play eventually led into a second goal which was scored by David Luiz, who headed home a corner on 78 minutes.

Trailing by two goals seemed too hard for Man City players to cope with as they can’t really do much in the remaining minutes aside from accepting their first defeat in the league this season.

Not only losing their unbeaten record in the Premier League this season, that result also dropped City into the second place in current standings behind Liverpool.

As for Chelsea, that victory set them temporarily third in the table as they wait for Tottenham Hotspur’s result which will be playing later this Saturday.
