Jordan Peele’s “Us” Horror-Blockbuster Has Been Pushed Back

“Us” was pushed back so it could headline the Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.

Jordan Peele has taken it upon himself to postpone the release of Us, until the inauguration of the Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Four other titles were afforded the same courtesy: the WWII-based film Greyhound starring Tom Hanks, the comedy-drama Where’d You Go, Bernadette? starring Cate Blanchett, The Informer starring Joel Kinnaman, Five Five Apart starring Haley Lu Richardson.

Peele’s hotly-anticipated thriller Us, is the natural successor to his breakout hit Get Out, the first project submitted to Universal Pictures, with whom his Monkeypaw Productions imprint signed later. Us is expected to exceed the $255 million sales total amassed by Get Out, when it debuts on March 22nd at the Southwest Film Festival.

For those don’t already know, Us centers around a family tormented by a group of doppelgängers. As a result of a duplicitous threat posed by the doppelgängers, the family charts the course for their country home, in the hopes they will find amnesty or deep cover, beyond the city limits. Little do they know, the doppelgängers are one step ahead – the film’s tagline: “We are our own worst enemy” adding an element of intrigue to Peele’s defective plan. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o landed the main role opposite Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss. Are you intrigued enough by the project, to wait it out an additional week?
