Trey Songz Shares New Song ‘Back Home’ Featuring Summer Walker

After gifting fans with his Anticipation I and Anticipation II mixtapes on streaming platforms, Trey Songz returns with new music. The Virginia-bred artist has teamed with Summer Walker for his new single titled “Back Home.”

The Hitmaka-produced track samples Rose Royce’s “I’m Going Down” and contains an interpolation of New Edition’s “If It Isn’t Love.”

The somber tune hears Songz and Walker telling the story of two lovers who seem to have a hard time moving on from their toxic relationship.

“If it isn’t love, why I keep coming back / I keep coming back, back home,” Songz sings on the chorus.

Meanwhile, Walker tries to enjoy her night out but ends up back in her feelings. “You get on my last damn nerves / Then I say that I’m done,” Walker sings in the second verse. “Then I miss you in the middle of the club / By the end of the night I’m calling you drunk,” she adds.

Speaking on his new single, Songz wrote on Instagram, “One thing that’s certain is that we are right now in times that none of us have ever experienced. I thought it would be special to put together a time capsule of both my intimate and extended family living through what we would have never imagined. From my home to yours, this is my new single Back Home ft @summerwalker.”

“Back Home” is Songz’s first single since 2019’s “Chi Chi” featuring Chris Brown and “Jill (Sumn Real).” There is no word if “Back Home” will appear on a future project or if it’s just a standalone single.

It’s been three years since Songz released his last proper album, Tremaine The Album. In 2018, he released his two-part project 11.28 in celebration of his 34th birthday.
